History
See the spot where the last witch to be executed
in Scotland was burnt in 1722. (In a garden in River
Street).
Royal Dornoch Golf Club
The world famous Royal Dornoch Golf Club features
a 18 hole Championship course and the less demanding 18 hole
Struie course.
Loch Fishing by boat or from bank
The Dornoch Angling Association can provide
fishing to suit all tastes with its wide selection of waters.
Family fishing: Lochs Laoigh and Loch Lannsaidh
are close to the town and are both stocked in addition to the
natural supply, Loch Lannsaidh with Rainbow as well as Brown
trout. Both lochs have car access close to the lochside and have
boathouses with picnic facilities.
Salmon & Sea Trout fishing: This is available
on Loch Brora approximately half an hour’s drive from Dornoch.
Estuary bank fishing with fly or spinning is also available at
Loch Fleet around full tides.
Accessible Wild Brown Trout fishing: the two
lochs , Loch Buidhe and Loch Lagain are within a half hour’s drive
and cars can be taken to the lochside, the boats being within a
short walking distance. Good quality brown trout are available on
Loch Buidhe with smaller fish on Loch Lagain, both lochs enjoying
fine scenery and good sport.
For the more adventurous angler: The lochs Laro
and Cracail require from half to three quarter an hour’s walk from
the car but offer splendid fishing and those willing to make the
effort are rewarded with a fine level walk in isolated grandeur.
Permits are available from the Tourist Office in The
Square.
Beach & Walking
Beautiful clean beach with safe EC Approved Blue
Flag sea bathing. A country path to Embo and forest walk and
sculpture trail at nearby Skelbo Wood - can you spot the 10 forest
creatures? Camore Wood is a few miles along Sutherland Road and
features a forest walk, fitness trail and orienteering
course.
Flora & Fauna
The Dornoch Common Good Lands are rich in flora
and fauna and Loch Fleet, a few miles from Dornoch is a wildlife
reserve. Look for the interpretation boards at both
locations.

Pipe Band
Parades in the Square most Saturday evenings at 8pm during the
summer. The Cathedral Tower is usually open to the public at the
same time.
